Known for her "stunning" and "shimmering" soprano voice, Marcelle Duarte has been performing and teaching a full vocal studio in the New York area for over a decade. Born and raised in New York, Marcelle has always had a passion for music of all genres. Whether performing lead operatic roles, premiering new vocal music works at Carnegie and Merkin Hall, and performing jazz standards with a big band, her performances have delighted audiences throughout North America and Europe.

 

Marcelle made her New York debut as the soprano soloist in Brahms' Ein Deutsches Requiem under the baton of Hans Michael Beurle, at Colden Center. She has performed with The Little Opera Theatre of New York, most notably, in the roles of Frasquita, Susanna, and Masha, a role created for her based on the works of Alexander Pushkin. Performance highlights include soprano soloist for Mozart's Requiem and Samuel Barber's Knoxville: Summer of 1915, under the baton of Maestro Maurice Peress. Marcelle has premiered many works for the Long Island Composers Alliance, including the works of Joel Mandelbaum and Julie Mandel, as well as a premiere with The Cygnus Ensemble at Merkin Hall. Further, Marcelle was asked to perform Laura's Theme alongside world-renowned poet Yevgeny Yevtushenko, at a performance celebrating his life and masterpieces. 

 

Operatic roles performed include; Vixen in Janacek's The Cunning Little Vixen, Erste Dame in Mozart's Die Zauberflöte, Barbarina in Mozart's The Marriage of Figaro, Tigrane in Händel's Radamisto, Adele in Die Fledermaus, Belinda in Dido and Aeneas, Sandman/Dew Fairy in Hansel and Gretel, and Musetta in La Boheme.
